Voila

I made this sock monkey for my daughter-in-law. My kids had them so I thought she should too. She decided to crochet some clothes for the creature. I think I will see if she can wash the arm and reshoot the photo. Think it must be tea or jungle juice on her arm.

Okay, it has been awhile, hasn't it? I really don't have a whole lot to blog about. My life is very average. Most of the time it is just housework, work and a smattering of hobbies. I am crocheting a doily. Yes, a doily. My daughter-in-law loves hand made things. Generally about 2 weeks before Christmas I start thinking about things I "should have" made but now have no time to finish. So I started this doily the day after. I am almost done with it but about the time I was half way done I was cruising the internet looking for bigger and better projects. I had to force myself to stay on track with the doily. I tend to start projects and not finish them. I have a bedspread that is probably close to 30 years in the making. I haven't worked on it for at least 20 years. It is about 2/3 done. In defense, I did crochet one for my mother-in-law. I started and finished that one in between panels of the first one . . that isn't finished yet. I also have a quilt top to quilt. One that I did and one that my grandmother did. She has been dead for some time (at least 30 years) so that is another project that is languishing. Oh, and I started another one for my son and new daughter-in-law. They have been married for a couple years now. It was supposed to be a wedding present. Sigh. That reminds me. . . where did I put that doily I started a few years back . . . it was up on the washer . . . maybe I could finish that one while I am at it. As I recall I just had to make the edging. Hope I can find the pattern. My idea was to make things throughout the year and put them back in a box labeled for giving. I did that this year too but I . . can't . . . find . . . the . . . box.

Today was the first of October. I actually got all my work done at work and was at a loss as to what to do. I did a little ahead so it should be easier tomorrow. I came home, watered the greenhouse plants and looked at the teeny tiny little spinach plants that are starting to poke up thru the soil. I also planted some lettuce. I was wanting to plant some cole crop but alas tis almost winter the stores say and no one is planting a garden at this time of year. I will need to make sure I put in a supply of seeds next spring. And I ate a strawberry. They are so good. I also have a supply of cat grass aka wheat that I start in the green house and bring in for the cats. Two of my cats adore it and will set upon it as soon as it is put down by their scratching post. The other cat doesn't seem to want to partake. Well, now I need to go upstairs and see if I can make sense of all the clutter up there. That is where my sewing machines and stationary bike is and for a long while I couldn't get to them. Now I can get to them but I want to organize all my material, yarn, craft stuff etc so I know where it is and it is not scattered in numerous plastic containers at odd ends of the room.

Okay, what do I want to write about? The green house is doing well. I have been getting strawberries all along and the little plants are multiplying. Nice. These are good tasting berries. Ugh there I go again with the berry theme.
Took a walk tonite over to the gravel pit. I have been walking in that pit for over 25 years (that is how long I have lived here in this house) and we won't mention the fact that I used to come down here to hunt bull frogs when I was a kid. Tonite I trespassed. Yup. I ignored the little sign they had posted and walked down to see if I could find some black berries to pick. There is that thread again. No berries to speak of. I think it has been too dry and too hot for a good crop of blackberries around here.
I may or may not go to the Willamette Valley Music festival. MY SON IS GOING TO BE PERFORMING WITH AMY CLAWSON ON SUNDAY. Was that subtle or what!! Hah! He is a bass guitar player and plays in her band. I am so proud! The other son from Redmond is coming over to take pictures at a wedding. I keep telling him that HE SHOULD TAKE PICTURES PROFESSIONALLY BECAUSE I THINK HE IS REALLY GOOD AT IT but he would rather earn a living. Okay. Got that out of my system. I have good kids.
We had a train wreck in Halsey. I heard that the trucker go stuck on the same crossing last year. The difference is in the timing. Last year they were able to contact the train in time so they could move the truck off the tracks. This year. Nope.
In other news we went over to Vale to visit my in-laws. When I tell people this their eyes light up and they say "Oh wow, really!?" It is at this point that I realize we are talking about two different Vale's. There is the Wow Vail, Colorado and then there is Vale, Oregon on the other side of Burns and Juntura and Harper and Little Valley and clear over next to the big city of Ontario on the Oregon Idaho border. Still a very nice place but not quite the wow factor of Vail. I will probably never get to Vail. I don't think I want to go to Vail. I am a simple creature. I have never been on a pair of snow skis. Water skis yes in my younger (and lighter) days. Now I do deep water aerobics. I am cutting down the monstrous laurel hedge in front of our property. It is the second time I have cut it down. It is a prolific producer of foliage. Nice hedge but it does tend to take up quite a bit of room if you don't keep it under control. Okay. I think it is icecream time. I guess we won't be having fresh blackberries on the vanilla ice cream. May have to go out and raid the raspberries. Happy Trails to you, Until we meet again. Hi Ho Silver Away!!!!

Well, I got my hair cut. Short. Super short. I wanted something different. Something sassy and easy to care for. I like it.
One of my friends has a birthday tomorrow so I was trying really hard to do something silly for her birthday. I sent a message with happy birthday in teeny tiny letters. Then I sent another one in a larger font and had it delayed in sending until tonite at seven I think. Hee hee this is going to be good. Send another one in larger font to be delivered at 9 tonite. Send another in larger font for early tomorrow morning. Giggle. I can just hear her wondering what I am up to. Now for the grand finale!!!! LARGE font with lots of !!!!! and the Beatles singing "It's your birthday!!! Send. Yay yah, oops. I forgot to delay the sending. She got that message right after the first teeny tiny font happy birthday. So much for cleverness. Can I blame it on menopause?
